Shasta Lake's 'hardiness' draws
local acclaim for
refusing to cancel the 2007 Annual Veterans Day Parade
because of Rain.
Shasta County's
most listened to Country Music
Station FM 97.3 broadcasting 'live' during the
Vet's Parade made repeated comments praising
the '... strong hearted American Patriotic Spirit
harbored in the souls of the 200 or so hardy
folks willing to ignore the wet drippy foggy
conditions.. '
'It's always been ironic, that most of us vets
can boast of lying in the mud, chin deep in blood
and body parts as the artillery and rain fell in equal
portions of misery.. and yet up until today our
Veterans Day Parade has always been canceled by
the falling of a few drops of rain... ', lectured
former Marine Lance Boman, of Mount Shasta
California, 'but this year no body wussed out and
called it off... I think America is rounding a corner
and returning to the hard facts that we can no longer
allow our liberty and freedoms to be subject to such
whims as (the) weather.. '
