Some like it HOT, others well.. they have their
limits and for most of Redding and Shasta County,
this past week of scorching 105-plus degree days are
testing limits of even the most ardent Sun Worshiper.
So it seemed as the combination of extreme summer
heat combined with a 'hazardous substance' spill
on highway 44 limited the attendance and completely
canceled out - the Organic Farmers Market portion
of MarketFest which is normally situated on Placer
Street at the southern end of Library Park - where
Redding Police diverted traffic from 44.
Yet, with the attendance low an estimated 1100
men, women, kids and children found reasonable
comfort amidst the many shady portions of the
park.
Slam Buckra and his tag-along band 'The Groove
Pollukas' shown with musical brilliance..
Always one for the dramatic and profound, Slam
and the band 'changed attire' for each set and
through the use of visual props and goodies
thrown to the appreciative crowd of dancers made
this MarketFest - what many described as:

'They best performance of the 2008 MarketFest
Season'..
